You only have to think about all the things we put our bodies through each day to know that it has to work extremely hard.

What is a 3 day juice cleanse?


Essentially a 3 day juice cleanse is a time where you omit food, and drink some healthy fruit and vegetables instead.

There are many ways to successfully do this but if this is your first time doing a 3 day juice cleanse then you should do it with caution.

The main purpose of a juice cleanse is to give your body a chance to detox, stock up on some much-needed fruit and vegetables and rid your body of all the foul horrible stuff that may be lurking that is sapping all your energy.

In effect you are hitting the reset button on your health so to speak.

The purpose of juicing rather than just eating the fruit and vegetables is to get the most out of what you are going to put into your body.

You are much more likely to be able to drink 10 sticks of celery rather than sit down and eat 10. (I’m not suggesting that you drink that much but using it merely as an example).

As with anything there are always going to be pros and cons to everything that we do, so naturally, you have to weight up both sides and see which will be most beneficial to you before you proceed.

Whilst juicing is great for getting all the raw nutrients from fruit and vegetables you must also consider that when you juice you lose all the fiber that the fruit or vegetables provide.

Depending on your reasoning behind your juice cleanse you may want to consider this first.

If you want to juice to enable your body to cleanse but also to lose weight then this may not be so much of a problem for you.

You will definitely lose weight very rapidly doing this juice cleanse but bear in mind that this type of weight loss will be difficult to maintain.

If on the other hand you want to cleanse but have no intention of losing weight then you will probably want to reconsider this method or tweak it in order to make sure you don’t lose too much weight.

Another thing to consider is that if you are going on a 3 day juice cleanse then you should think about the type of cleanse that you want.

If you want to do mostly fruits then you will be absorbing very high amounts of sugar especially as there is now no fiber to slow down the absorption of sugar into your body.

You should probably think about how that will affect you in the short term.

If on the other hand, you choose to do a mostly vegetable cleanse then this obviously won’t be so much of a problem for you.


What do you need to get started with juicing?


To get started with juicing you will need fresh fruit and vegetables, obviously!

Aim for more vegetables that fruit, you can use small amounts of fruit to sweeten your juice if you wish to.

You will also need a juicer of some type to get those lovely fruits and vegetables mixed and squeezed for you.

How do you start to implement a juice cleanse?


As with everything, preparation is always going to be the key!

Don’t just jump in with tons of enthusiasm without first preparing your body.

To do this you should take roughly a week to prepare your body for what is about to come.

You will need to slowly omit any sugary substances and processed foods from your diet and begin to increase your vegetable intake. You can even add some nuts to this too if you wish.

After your pre-cleanse, you can begin your 3 day juice cleanse.

You basically replace all your meals for 3 days at breakfast, lunch, and dinner including any other meals that you have between these times.

Are there any dangers in doing a 3 day juice cleanse?


If you don’t pre-cleanse and just decide to jump in you are likely to experience the following:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings


This is because the whole process will be a sudden shock to your body.

It’s not a very good idea to start your cleanse this way.

Juicing can also affect your blood sugar levels as your body will be absorbing sugar (mostly from fruits) at a very rapid rate because there is no fiber to slow it down.

If you happen to be diabetic then you must proceed with caution.

If you are using a 3 day juice cleanse just to lose weight you have to be aware that you are likely to put the weight back on.

When you start with a juice cleanse you are dramatically reducing the number of calories that you are taking in each day.

Whilst you may see a sudden drop in weight while you are juicing often the individual will usually put the weight back on once the cleanse is over.

If you want to lose weight there are much more healthy ways to do this.

Remember your body is likely to have lots of adverse reactions to this cleanse so don’t expect to have it easy.

If you are experiencing any strong adverse reactions to juicing then you need to contact your doctor immediately.

If you are unsure if your body can handle a 3 day juice cleanse then you need to contact your doctor BEFORE you begin the cleanse.

If you are simply not sure about anything, contact your doctor to talk it through so that you can get more personal advice on the matter.

Is it worth doing a juice cleanse?

Well, that is a personal answer and not one I can answer for you.

Although there is some debate as to if a juice cleanse is actually beneficial, some people do see the benefit in them and continue to do them has a habit every so often.

As with anything being cautious is the key and also being aware of any strange signals that your body is giving you.

If done safely juice cleanses can be an amazing thing.


You will at some point probably want to quit during your cleanse and go back to eating food. This is when your “why” reason comes into effect.

If you started the cleanse with a very good “why” reason it will take you through to the end.

If you don’t feel that you can handle it then don’t beat yourself up about it.

There is no law that says once you start a 3 day juice cleanse that you have to finish it.
